Kenyan purple tea is a new type of a tea cultivar that was recently discovered in Kenya. This new and exciting tea contains all the components found in green tea, but in addition it has unique compounds called anthocyanins and polyphenols that are not available in any other tea!
Anthocyanins are responsible for the red, purple, and blueish colors in fruits and vegetables like grapes, beet, berries, etc. These unique compounds have been identified to have strong anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. That is what makes the Kenyan purple tea superior to any other tea.
The main components in Kenyan purple tea are theobromine, EGCG, epigallocatechin (ECG), caffeine, and 1,2-di-O-galloyl-4,6-O-(S)-hexahydroxydiphenoyl-B-D-glucose (better known as GHG). Studies in animals and humans have shown that Kenyan purple tea can improve weight loss efforts by affecting body weight, body fat mass, and body mass index. There are recently published scientific studies online that have concluded that Kenyan purple tea “could control diet-induced weight gain by suppression of fat absorption and enhancement of hepatic fat metabolism.”
